Stitched Hexi's

I have been busy cutting lots of these from pelon......

And ironing them on the back of these........

Then I chose some co-ordinating threads from by box......

And started stitching these........

I have finished two rows and joined them together so
now I am stitching the ones between the rows.....

They look really sweet....

And the colour combinations are endless.....
I am freeing up some of my papers for the next lot of blooms....

It will be a good way to use up some DMC threads.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Kate

I wasn't going to do the stitched hexies... but after seeing how great yours look... I might have to change my mind. It would involve some unpicking though and I'm not sure I'm up for that! ;)

Its great to be able to help others Jeanne. Those hexie flowers are wonderful Kate. I really love the look of them and might even change my mind too although I do really like mine the way it is. Plenty of time to work it out though LOL. There is also another product that could be used instead of the pellon. It is much thinner and is basically iron on muslin. I do not know what it is called but when I went to get the pellon for another project the lady at our shop recommended this new stuff. Does the same job but without any bulk.

Love the look of the stitched centres .... it is totally unexpected and wonderful!

Is there a pattern for these flowers or is it your original idea? Just wondering.

Hi Rose Marie....The pattern is from Leanne Beasely's Vignette Magazine......
Hi Katherine I also use that for stitching, I actually ironed to the back of the white fabric before I made the Hexi's......But when Issue 3 of Vegnette cane Leanne had used pelon so I thought what the heck.....At least I know the threads from the back will not ever be seen *Grin*
Hi Jeanne, I hope you enjoy making your quilt as much as I am.....I will let you in on a little secret.....It is addictive.....
Hi Cate, I was running out of papers so started to join up some rows, hence being up to the stitched ones.....I still have 70 blooms to go....

Love your flowers. Hope to get something posted here but hate to take the time away from stitching hexies to make the blog post. So much inspiration. Just love this project.

These look great. I've been putting off doing my stitched hexies as I wasn't sure what colour to use. Looking at yours I know now that they will look fantastic if I use a variety of colours. Way to go - looking so good.

Hey Kate! I like your idea with the pellon. I was going to use Weaveline and sew it like a normal hexie, but like this idea better. LOVE your choice of fabrics too..... wonder how different ours will end up?!
