A few hexies closer to a finish

Last weekend I watched a showing of Mary Poppins on TV. It was due to Mary Poppins the Musical opening in Auckland that same night. It brought back lots of nice memories and I got a few hexagons done which was good.  Some of my cardboard is coloured so makes them look odd colours. I'm off for a road trip tomorrow so hope to carry on with my efforts.

Bye for now,
Sue

Long Awaited Finish

The last stitches have gone into my binding on my Hexi Quilt...
It took me so long to upload the pics.....
Might be time to upgrade my computer soon....
It was a lovely sunny and breezy day here today and
I managed to get some pics of it hanging on the line....
I am so happy with how it has turned out...
Here is a pic of it on my bed....
There will be sweet dreams happening in there tonight....
There's nothing more rewarding than a completed quilt
especially with perfect points on the corner binding....
Sweet Dreams my blogging friends.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

A binding I will go...

My Mojo returned home last night from wherever
it is she has been....The dirty stop out.....
Out came my ruler and cutter and I trimmed the
excess fabric and wadding from my Hexi Quilt.....
I was then on a roll and cut the binding strips....
Joined and pressed them while chatting
on the phone to my bestie Suzie.....
What a multi tasker....Lol....
I then sewed the binding on and it is all pinned and ready
to go to sewing at Fran's house tonight
with Alison and the girls......
Not quite a finish but getting there slowly.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Quilting Finished! Binding to Go!

I have picked up my Hexagon guilt from Belinda
and couldn't wait to show you all.....
She has done an amazing job and I am just a tad excited about
how well the quilting design that I chose has turned out.....
It will be perfect on my bed for Spring.....
I haven't started the binding yet but definitely
have it on the top of my to do list....
I will bind it in the same white fabric
that I used for the border.....
The quilting has hidden my little mistake where I cut the
border in the wrong spot so I am really happy with that.....
It looks like a flower garden and compliments
my fabrics beautifully....
I will show you another pic when the binding is on.....
Yay!!! Can you tell I am excited! I feel like Big Kev!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Slowly I am getting Flowers sewn.

Hi everyone....I am loving seeing everyones flowers...such pretty fabrics and everyones quilts are going to look gorgeous!!

I had a break from sewing these flowers but lately I have the urge to sew them.
Lucky for me that I had several waiting to be sewn together in my little box and over the last few days, I have sewn these flowers for my garden.

I have enjoyed sewing them again and hoping to get them sewn together to form the rows of the quilt very soon.
I am using my scraps to make the flowers as there is plenty of scraps that need to be used.
Hope everyone is having fun sewing their hexie flowers.
Hugs to all..

New beginnings

Hi, I am Sue and I live in the South Island of New Zealand. We are in the depths of winter right now so it's perfect for stitching. I have my kit set up and I have started my journey on the Vignette hexagon quilt. I have my bag of fabrics waiting in the wings and pins, needles, threads and scissors at the ready. I am looking forward to working alongside others on the same path. A long way to go but it will be fun to see it take shape and watch others do the same. Thanks for the opportunity to join. I will post again once I have my first flower finished.  :)

This is my first Post on this blog.
I have been wanting to join you all for awhile.
I really love hexagon quilts.
My first Hexagonquilt I made for my mother`s Birthday. It was a blue Flowergarden. You find the Quilt on my blog     www.gritslife1.blogspot.com

Now I started with my new project. Is my Hexagonquilt "La Passion". Its my own design.
The hexagon size is 1/2 Inch.

I hope my English is OK.

Just One More...

Our family had a car trip on Sunday for a couple of hours which was a great opportunity to do a little stitching. I'm thankful that I'm able to stitch in the car and not feel sick - amazing what you can get done.

I took along my last cut out hexagon flower to finish. So nice to have another one done!

So now there are 13 little blooms to my collection. Slowly growing as life gets so busy with school age children and running a family business.......and also having too many projects on the go (lol).

Its great to catch up on everyone's progress too on the blog. Always so nice.

Now to cut some more hexagons!

...and the garden keeps on growing

My Mom had to go through surgery a few weeks ago and I spent  much time at the hospital accompanying her. And my garden hasn't stopped growing since then.

Until next time.

Hey All

Hello all. My name is Teresa and I live in Alabama. I'm married to an Army Recruiter and we have one son. Our son is 7 years old and was recently diagnosed with ADHD. To kind of cope with the stress and depression I've been battling, I started sewing and quilting.

I'm so excited to be new member of The Vignette Hexagons. I've only been sewing since fall of last year and hexagons were where I started. This site is one of the first sites that I found when I was searching the web for advice. All of you inspired me so much with all of your beautiful hexagons.

Here are a few hexies that I've done recently:

This last hexie caddy I found from a wonderful website. http://pennyshands.blogspot.com/2010/08/hexie-caddy-tutorial.html

I'm really looking forward to all the hexies that you all share. I'll post some more soon. :)
