Here a Hexie, There a Hexie...
There are hexie flowers all over the place here & I am certainly making better progress than expected. I also joined the WA Quilt Guild on Friday at the Perth Quilt Show after having taken the forms home for the past 4 years & forgetting to join. That means that once a month I can go to the hexie club & spend some more time on my flowers.
This month I decided I need some more subtle flowers to mix in with my fussy cut ones so this was the result, with lots of spots;
I then reverted back to my usual
Oh well, only 47 done so plenty left to do to add some more subtle ones. I might take the dove ones out to use on a Christmas project too.
I am loving this paper piecing so brought some new templates & papers at the Craft Fair too but they will have to wait awhile......
Happy stitching

Gone Hexie Crazy.....
I now understand the addiction. I was so happy at the beginning of Easter to have met my goal of 12 hexies for the month but couldn't stop there otherwise it would not be an addiction. So I cut out another 14 & now they are finished too. Bless the footy & the Royal Wedding!
Thanks for all the lovely comments on my first post - you guys rock. Maybe the corny old saying should now be changed to 'If friends were hexie flowers, I'd stitch YOU!'
I do feel a distraction coming on though. The latest Patchwork & Quilting has a lovely quilt called Dorothy by Janelle Noack that features hexie flowers too. It pulled at my heart strings as my mum's name was Dorothy & this would be a perfect little quilt for my lounge room to brighten up the chocolate brown couch. Only 20 more hexie flowers, no worries Mate!
No footy on TV in Perth today - evil channel 7! So the latest Harry Potter and the series of 22 episodes of the 90s TV series American Gothic on DVD will have to be my stitching companions for today & a few evenings to follow.
Happy stitching in Autumn!

Progress At Last
The Easter long weekend has been kind to my hexie flower making efforts so have something to show for month 1 of this project. My goal is 12 flowers a month so I will take just on a year to complete, fingers crossed!
I decided to try the glue method but living in the Northern suburbs of Perth city a quilting shop is at least 30kms away so tried the chain gangs of Spotlight & Textile Traders with no success. So decided why not call in the big guns & use a bottle of fabric glue, not as easy but so far so good though a lot messier & sticky on the fingers.
I love my AFL footy which is great for productivity now so this was the result of the Thursday night Footy Show viewing followed by the movie Inception. Lots of gluey hexies waiting to dry properly.
After watching a couple of movies last night, here's my first 12 flowers finished.
This is my first random stash quilt so the thought of putting all these different colours & values together is freaking me out a bit. So, when in doubt, procrastinate! I'll make up the blocks later & decided I need to do a lot more less bold choices to mellow things out a bit.
While watching the ANZAC footy match today I cut out another 13 flowers & in 2 hours when the Dockers Vs Doggies game starts I get back to glueing again.
Happy stitching (& glueing!)
